2024/25 Coach Announcement

We are thrilled to announce that Dean Alexander has accepted the position of club coach for the 2024-25 season. Dean is a dedicated stalwart of the Moonee Ponds Cricket Club who has consistently given his time to nurture the new batch of players coming through. His effort last year as coach was remarkable, as he was able to turn around the club’s fortunes with his dedication and attention to detail in getting to know each of the players. He is a polished mentor and motivator, with cricket acumen that is second to none. We are very thankful that Dean has committed to the club. We look forward to “Podge” working with all the players to make them better again this season.

Bendigo Bank Sponsorship

It’s great to have the Strathmore Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank join us as one of our sponsors.

They have been great to deal with with our Club accounts and services, and my personal experience with them for my own banking has been nothing but exceptional.

Further to that, for anyone that uses the Strathmore branch for their banking services, the Club will receive a bonus depending on the service. The deals available are listed in the attached document.

New Pavilion

For anyone interested in the replacement for J.A. Fullarton Pavilion… Council have updated their proposed plans for the building.

For reference, up is looking to the West. There is a line to the left that is level with the centre of the pitch, and the far right of the building is situated at the bottom of the stairs coming down from the dog club.

The current timeline is that it would be proposed for next year’s budget (2023/24) and if approved at the June 2024 Council meeting, building would commence soon after. With around 12 months build time it would be ready for us to use in season 2025/26.

Presentation Day 2022/23

An enjoyable afternoon at the Moonee Ponds Club where we celebrated the individual on-field achievements and acknowledged the volunteer efforts that keep the club running.

Taking out the top awards for batting and bowling for the 1st XI was Zac Bateman, and after that it was no surprise that he took out Club Champion as well.

Best Clubman went to Wayne Hinsley – a fitting award for the efforts Wacca put in during the season to provide training night dinners.

All in all, it was great to see the talent coming through the grades in the Club, which bodes well for future success.

1st XI Captaincy

The Committee would like to formally announce the appointment of Patrick (Dids) Didham as the captain of the 1st XI. Dids has been playing senior cricket with us since he was 11 years old and has always been a prodigious talent, skippering junior sides with great maturity through to the U17.5s where he made hundred after hundred.

Dids, over the past 4 years has been under the wing of Adam White as an opening bat. In this time every season has seen great improvement, culminating in Did’s best season to date, which was the one just finished.

A classy left-handed bat and gun fielder that bowls left arm donkey drops, last year saw Dids stand up as a leader.

We are super proud and wish him well in his first year as Skipper.
